Many NAT products are approved by Transport Canada (TC),
the US FAA or other civil aviation authorities through Appliance
Certification or the FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) process.
In cases where an Appliance certification or TSO approval
is not applicable, products may be approved for installation
under the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process by TC
or FAA. Products may also be approved for installation as
part of an aircraft Type Certificate issued to an aircraft
manufacturer. For a complete listing, see Product

Approvals.
Newly manufactured products with Appliance Certification,
TSO Approval or other civil aviation authority approval, and
products approved for installation through the STC process
or aircraft Type Certificate are released from NAT on TC Form
24-0078, Authorized Release Certificate. TC Form 24-0078 is
equivalent to FAA Form 8130-3 and JAA/EASA Form One. Information

Airworthiness Notices A014. Repaired products are also
released on TC Form 24-0078.
The FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) process is not
available to companies located outside the USA, hence NAT
cannot issue products with FAA PMA approval. However, NAT
products that are approved under a FAA STC are included on
NAT’s Manufacturing Approval Limitation record issued
by TC, and their release on a TC Form 24-0078 is accepted
by the FAA under the TC/FAA
Bilateral Agreement Implementation Procedures Section 3.2.1.3.
Facility Approvals
NAT holds the following Transport Canada organization
approvals:
• Design
Approval Organization (DAO) #00-V-02
• Approved
Manufacturing Facility #08-80
• Approved
Maintenance Organization (AMO) #8-80
Obtaining Installation Approval
• TSO,
Appliance certification, and STC data may be used as “Approved
Data” for the purposes of obtaining installation approval.
• Per
FAA
Order 8300.10, Vol. 2, Ch. 1, a Transport Canada Appliance
Type Certificate/Approval (AP-TC) constitutes Approved Data
for performing a Field Approval of a major alteration per
FAA Form 337.
• For
products where TSO or STC data is not available, NAT may be
able to provide performance and environmental test qualification
data that can be used to support applications for installation
approval.
