NTA01-001 Radio Conversion Kit Compatible
with Motorola XTL™5000 Digital Mobile Radio

Northern Airborne Technology Ltd. (NAT) is pleased to announce that the NTA01-001 Radio Conversion Kit is now compatible for use with the Motorola XTLä5000 Digital Mobile Radio.

The Motorola ASTRO™ and XTL™5000 series radios are some of the most popular versions used by public agencies for vehicle and personal communications. The series are available in conventional FM bands including VHF-LO, VHF-HI, and UHF bands, plus trunking configurations and APCO 25 compliant networks. The car mobile version has been used in aircraft applications to provide communication with ground personnel, however, the car mobile version required the use of multiple adapters plus modification of the mounting hardware for installation into aircraft.

For an aircraft installation, the NTA01-001 kit provides all required interface functions and is mounted in the aircraft by way of a standard tray assembly. The voltage is converted from the standard aircraft 28 VDC to 14 VDC through a switching regulator with over voltage, over current and thermal protection. Speaker output and mic input levels and impedances are converted for connection to a standard aircraft audio system, and the kit produces artificial side-tone. The result is a radio that looks and operates just like an aircraft radio.

In completing the aircraft compatible system, the final step is to interface the NTA01-001 to the NAT Tac/Com II™ multi-radio control. This unit is capable of simultaneous operation of up to four separate FM transceivers. Using NAT’s unique interface to the Motorola ASTRO™ and XTL™5000 radio, the Tac/Com II™ control supports the following ASTRO™ and XTL™5000 functions: Modes; Zones; Scanning.

Note:
• A unique interface card is required in the Tac/Com II™ control head for each radio.
• The motorcycle mount version of the ASTRO™ and XTL™5000 radio, rated at 15 watts max, is recommended for operation with the NTA01-001.

Whether for law enforcement, air ambulance, or in any other special mission environment, the NTA01-001 saves time, money and provides an effective solution for ASTRO™ and XTL™5000 radio system installations in your aircraft.
